The Short Answer

The Direct Answer, In Australian Dollars

In Australia, a salon website costs $899 to $2,999 as a one-off build, or $25 to $299 per month on a subscription, based on published Australian prices verified in September 2026. SalonWebsite.com is a flat $197 per month, including 4 website edits a month plus the option of 1 new page a month, ongoing local SEO and Google Business Profile management, with no build fee.

That range is wider than it looks, because the two ends are not buying the same thing. At the bottom of the one-off range you are typically buying a small template-based site and nothing else. At the top you are buying custom design, copywriting and booking integration. And on the monthly side, a $25 plan and a $299 plan can differ by whether anyone is doing your SEO at all.

The figures on this page were checked directly against each provider's own published pricing on 6 September 2026. Where a provider publishes no price, this page says so rather than guessing, and where our own $197 is the more expensive option, this page says that too.

SalonWebsite.com is a salon website and local SEO subscription priced at $197 AUD per month. We are one of the providers being compared here, so treat this as a vendor-published cost guide, not independent research. Every competitor figure below is a price that provider published on its own website, checked in September 2026, and we have written “price not published” rather than estimating wherever a provider does not publish one. Where our own model is the more expensive choice, we say so.

The Australian Market, With Real Numbers

What Australian Providers Actually Publish

Every figure in the three tables below was taken from the provider's own published pricing and checked on 6 September 2026. Nothing here is estimated. Where a provider publishes no number, the cell says so, because a made-up range is worse than an honest blank.

Verified September 2026. Prices change without notice, so check the provider's own site before you make a decision on any figure here.

1. One-off custom builds (pay once, own the build)

The verified published range for a one-off Australian build sits between $899 and $2,999. Note how few providers publish anything at all: of the nine reachable salon-niche competitors checked, only two published a figure. One competitor keeps a page literally titled “Packages & Prices” that contains no prices.

ProviderWhat the price coversPublished price (AUD)
The Site Studio (AU, salon-specific)Web Design Package, up to 4 pagesFrom $1,499 one-off
Silk Media (AU)Four published one-off packages$899 / $1,599 / $2,199 / $2,999
Social Space (AU, salon-specific)Setup fee, then a monthly plan on top$199 setup ($549 or $799 for complex builds)
Salon Guru (UK, serves AU)Page titled “Packages & Prices”, spread monthly over year onePrice not published
Web Marketing Angels (Melbourne and Victoria only)Salon and hairdresser web designPrice not published
Quinn Marketing (AU)“Contact us for a free quote”Price not published

Two cautions on the wider figures you will see quoted online. First, the higher ranges commonly cited for “traditional agency” builds, such as $1,500 to $10,000+ or $3,000 to $10,000, come from subscription providers' own marketing comparisons rather than from a published agency price list, so treat them as claims and not as verified market data. Second, one of the pages currently ranking on page one of Google for this exact question is a European site quoting euros to Australian searchers. If a cost guide is not quoting AUD, it is not answering your question.

2. Subscription providers (pay monthly, no or low upfront)

Published Australian monthly prices run from $25 a month at the low end to $299 a month for a website line item alone. The headline number is the easy part. The columns that actually decide what you pay are the last three. Edit allowance is not a column here, because three of the providers checked publish no edit policy at all and the rest describe theirs in terms that do not line up. What each one does publish, including our own 4 edits a month, is set out under edit billing further down.

Two further providers appeared in this research with monthly prices visible only in a Google search snippet, which we could not confirm by opening their pricing pages. They have been left out of the table rather than quoted from a snippet. A third provider shows a “$59/month” banner with no plan attached to it anywhere on the page, so only its published one-off packages of $899 to $2,999 are listed above.

3. DIY website builders (you build and maintain it yourself)

DIY builders appear repeatedly on the Australian salon website design results page. They are a genuine option, particularly if you enjoy the work and have the time. We did not verify their subscription pricing in this check, so we are not going to publish a number for them.

The real cost of DIY is rarely the platform fee. It is the hours, and it is the fact that nobody is managing your local SEO or your Google Business Profile unless you do it yourself. Our page on local SEO and Google Business Profile management explains what that ongoing work actually involves.

Why Two Quotes Differ By Thousands

What Actually Drives The Price

Six variables explain most of the spread between a $899 quote and a $2,999 one, and between a $49 monthly plan and a $299 one. Read these before you compare any two numbers, because two quotes that look identical often describe very different work.

Page count

Page count is the most common pricing lever in this market. One Australian provider publishes tiers at 5, 10 and 20 pages ($150, $180 and $210 per month). Another charges $250 for each extra page on top of its $99 monthly plan. A salon-specific one-off build published at $1,499 covers up to 4 pages. If you want a page per service, ask what the page beyond the included count costs before you sign.

Custom design versus a template

A template or theme-based build is faster and cheaper to produce, which is why it sits at the bottom of every price range. A design built specifically around your salon, your services and your photography takes designer hours, and those hours are the single biggest line in any one-off quote. Ask directly which one you are buying, because both are commonly described as a “custom website”.

Copywriting

Most quotes assume you supply the words. If you do not, writing service descriptions, an about page and location copy is either an added cost or an unfilled template you end up staring at for six months. Whether copywriting is included is worth asking about explicitly, because it is rarely itemised in a published price.

Booking integration

Salons almost always need an online booking system connected, whether that is an embedded widget from your existing booking platform or a deeper integration. Simple embeds are usually trivial. Anything involving custom availability logic, deposits or class scheduling adds development time, and that is where a quote moves.

Whether SEO is included, and what kind

This is the costliest ambiguity in the market. Across eight Australian subscription providers checked in September 2026, not one included ongoing SEO in the subscription. Their “SEO” universally meant build-level work: SEO-ready structure, on-page basics, image and speed optimisation. That is a one-time task, not a service. Ongoing SEO is a separate line item, and one Australian provider publishes it at $499 a month.

How ongoing edits are billed

Edit policy quietly decides your real annual cost. Of the providers checked, two claim unlimited edits scoped to content and design tweaks, one meters edits at 1 to 2 hours per month depending on tier, one charges per change with extra pages from $99, one gives 15 minutes of design work a month, and three publish no edit policy at all. Ours is a capped allowance, and we would rather publish the number than imply there is no limit: 4 website edits every month, plus the option of 1 new page each month, included in the $197 rather than billed per request. Two of the providers checked publish a larger edit allowance than we do, so if you expect to change something most weeks, weigh their edit terms against what else each plan includes. If your prices, staff or promotions change often, this column matters more than the headline price.

After Launch

The Ongoing Costs People Forget

A website quote is a launch price. The cost of ownership is what you pay in year two and year three, and it is where most salon owners find the number they did not budget for.

Hosting and domain
A one-off build price usually buys the build, not the place it lives. Hosting and domain renewal are recurring costs that continue for as long as the site is online. We did not verify Australian hosting prices in this September 2026 check, so ask your builder for the actual figure in writing rather than accepting a range. If nobody has told you what hosting costs, it has not been included.
Edits billed per request
This is the cost that surprises salon owners most. Among the Australian providers checked, one charges per change with an extra page from $99, one caps included edits at 1 to 2 hours a month by tier, and one bills $250 for each additional page. A price rise across your service menu, a new stylist, a seasonal promotion and updated Christmas hours is four requests in one year, and under a per-request model that is four invoices. Our own plan caps edits too, at 4 a month plus the option of 1 new page, so the difference is not that there is no limit. It is that those changes are included in the monthly price instead of arriving as separate invoices.
SEO billed separately
Not one of the eight Australian subscription providers checked in September 2026 included ongoing SEO in the subscription price. One provider quotes ongoing SEO separately, another sells it as an add-on to a plan that already includes local SEO in the build, and one publishes an SEO line item at $499 a month. If a website plan mentions SEO, ask whether it is a one-time build task or a monthly service.
Google Business Profile management
Across every Australian subscription provider checked, none published ongoing Google Business Profile management as part of the plan. The single closest thing found was a one-off “Google My Business setup” task, and one provider prices GBP management on custom quote only. For a salon, the Google Business Profile is often the thing customers actually see first, so it is worth knowing whether anyone is maintaining yours.
Exit and transfer fees
One Australian provider charges a $499 asset transfer fee to take your site with you, waived after six months. Another states that no access is given to the website and that buying it out costs a further 12 months of fees, with the payments you have already made not counted. These are published terms, and they are a real cost of ownership even though they never appear in a headline price.

Total Cost Of Ownership

Over 12 Months And 36 Months

Headline prices are not comparable. Three-year totals are. Below is the arithmetic for five real scenarios, each built on a price an Australian provider actually publishes, with the working shown so you can check it or substitute your own quote.

Hosting and domain renewal are excluded from every scenario, because no provider in this check published a figure for them and we are not going to invent one. Add your own hosting cost equally to scenarios A and B; scenarios C, D and E are hosted plans that include it.

A. Cheap one-off build, and you genuinely never touch it

A salon-specific Australian build published at $1,499 one-off for up to 4 pages. You write your own copy, you never request an edit, you run your own Google Business Profile, and you buy no SEO.

12 months

$1,499 build + $0 edits + $0 SEO

$1,499 (plus hosting and domain, which nobody in this check published)

36 months

$1,499 build + $0 edits + $0 SEO, spread across three years

$1,499 (plus three years of hosting and domain)

This is genuinely cheaper than us, and it is not close. Over 36 months it saves roughly $5,600 against our $7,092. If your prices rarely change, you are comfortable maintaining your own Google Business Profile, and you do not want SEO, buying a site outright is the better financial decision. We would rather say that than pretend otherwise.

B. One-off build, plus a published Australian SEO retainer

The same $1,499 one-off build, plus ongoing SEO bought at $499 a month, which is what one Australian provider publishes for SEO as a standalone line item.

12 months

$1,499 build + ($499 × 12 = $5,988) SEO

$7,487

36 months

$1,499 build + ($499 × 36 = $17,964) SEO

$19,463

Once ongoing SEO is added at a published Australian rate, the upfront-build route costs roughly 2.7 times our 36-month total. This is the scenario the subscription model is built for, and it is the honest version of the argument: the saving is not on the website, it is on the SEO.

C. The closest like-for-like monthly plan in Australia

An Australian provider publishing $45 a week for its basic plan, which is about $195 a month, on a 12-month minimum contract, with no published edit policy and no published Google Business Profile management. The site becomes yours outright, including IP, after 12 months.

12 months

$45 × 52 weeks

$2,340

36 months

$45 × 156 weeks

$7,020

This is within $24 of us over a year and within $72 over three years, which makes it the cleanest comparison in the market. It is locked for 12 months where we are not, and it publishes no edit policy and no Google Business Profile management where we publish both: 4 included edits a month plus the option of 1 new page, and ongoing Google Business Profile work. But on price alone it is a genuine tie, and its outright-ownership term after 12 months is something our hosted subscription does not offer.

D. The cheapest published monthly plan

An Australian provider publishing from $49 a month with a 30-day free trial, no upfront build fee and no lock-in. Ongoing SEO is not included, Google Business Profile management is not published, and ownership terms are not published.

12 months

$49 × 12

$588

36 months

$49 × 36

$1,764

Four times cheaper than us over three years, and we are not going to argue with the arithmetic. What you are not buying at $49 is any ongoing SEO, any Google Business Profile management, or any published answer about what happens to the site if you leave. If a working website is all you need, this is the cheaper number.

E. SalonWebsite.com

A flat $197 a month covering the website, 4 website edits a month plus the option of 1 new page a month, ongoing local SEO, Google Business Profile management and hosting. No build fee, no setup fee, no lock-in contract.

12 months

$197 × 12

$2,364

36 months

$197 × 36

$7,092

There is no scenario where we are the cheapest headline number, and we do not claim to be. What the $197 buys is that the local SEO, the Google Business Profile work and your 4 monthly edits are already inside the figure, so for a salon working within that allowance the 12-month and 36-month totals above are the whole cost rather than a starting point. If you routinely need more than 4 changes in a month, say so on the consult and we will tell you honestly whether this plan fits.

The honest summary of all five

A cheap one-off build wins on total cost over 36 months if, and only if, you never need edits and never buy SEO. That is a real scenario and it applies to plenty of salons. The subscription model wins when your site changes regularly, or when you want ongoing local SEO and Google Business Profile work that would otherwise be a separate monthly invoice at a published Australian rate of $499 a month.

The most useful question is not “which is cheaper”. It is “how many times a year will I need to change something, and is anyone managing my Google listing”. We work through that in more detail on subscription versus upfront build for a salon website, and the full inclusion list sits on our $197 per month pricing page.

Common Questions

FAQs

How much does a salon website cost in Australia?

In Australia, published prices for a salon website run from $899 to $2,999 for a one-off custom build, and from $25 to $299 per month on a subscription plan, based on Australian provider pricing verified in September 2026. One salon-specific Australian builder publishes a package from $1,499 for up to four pages. SalonWebsite.com charges a flat $197 AUD per month, which includes the website, 4 website edits every month plus the option of 1 new page each month, ongoing local SEO and Google Business Profile management, with no build fee and no setup fee.

Is there a monthly fee to have a website?

Yes, in almost every case there is an ongoing cost even when a website is bought outright, because hosting, the domain name and security updates all renew. Australian subscription website providers publish monthly prices from $49 to $299, and a one-off build still needs hosting and a domain paid separately. The practical difference is not whether there is a monthly cost, it is whether that monthly cost also covers edits, SEO and Google Business Profile work.

Why do salon website quotes vary so much?

Six variables explain most of the spread: how many pages the site has, whether the design is custom or template based, whether copywriting is included or you supply the words, whether a booking system needs integrating, whether SEO is a one-time build task or an ongoing service, and how edits after launch are billed. Two quotes that look identical on price often describe very different work, so the useful comparison is what each includes rather than the headline figure.

Is a $197 per month salon website more expensive than paying for a build once?

Over 36 months, $197 per month totals $7,092, and a one-off Australian salon build published at $1,499 is clearly cheaper if the owner never requests an edit and never buys SEO. The comparison changes once ongoing SEO is added: one Australian provider publishes SEO at $499 per month, which is $17,964 over 36 months on top of the build, taking that route to $19,463. Whether monthly or upfront is cheaper depends almost entirely on how often the site changes and whether SEO is wanted.

Does a salon website price usually include SEO?

Usually not in the way owners expect. Across eight Australian subscription website providers checked in September 2026, none included ongoing SEO in the subscription price. Their SEO meant build-level work such as an SEO-ready page structure, on-page basics, or image and speed optimisation, which is a one-time task rather than a monthly service. Ongoing SEO is normally quoted separately, and one Australian provider publishes it as a $499 per month line item.

Do salon website providers manage your Google Business Profile?

Rarely. Across every Australian subscription website provider checked in September 2026, none published ongoing Google Business Profile management as part of the plan. The closest found was a one-off Google My Business setup task, and one national provider prices Google Business Profile management on custom quote only. For a salon this matters, because the Google Business Profile is often the first thing a local customer sees before they reach a website at all.

What hidden costs come after a salon website launches?

The four that catch salon owners out are hosting and domain renewal, which a one-off build price usually excludes; edits billed per request, where Australian providers publish terms such as extra pages from $99 or $250 per additional page, or cap included edits at one to two hours a month; ongoing SEO charged separately; and exit or transfer fees. On the last point, one Australian provider publishes a $499 asset transfer fee waived after six months.

Should I be worried about a website cost guide that quotes prices in euros?

Yes. One of the pages currently ranking on page one of Google in Australia for the salon website cost question is a European site quoting euros to Australian searchers, and a euro figure tells you nothing reliable about what an Australian provider will charge. When comparing cost guides, check that the figures are in AUD, that the providers named actually trade in Australia, and that the guide states when the prices were last checked.
